My First Time Stories

My First Time Stories

My First Time Stories is a project that delves into the powerful, personal experiences surrounding a first period; an event that often evokes emotions ranging from fear to empowerment. Building on the book My First Time by Janet Mbugua( Founder), the project has expanded into a podcast, My First Time Stories, which shares stories from Kenya and across Africa to address period stigma, period poverty, and advocate for menstrual justice. Released weekly on Afripods and social media, the podcast highlights diverse voices and the intersections of identity, sexuality, and menstrual health, pushing for universal access to menstrual products and education. Since launching on May 19, 2022, with two seasons and 24 episodes, it has connected a global audience to stories of resilience, pain, progress, and empowerment.

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the launch of a new season in 2025, continuing our mission to amplify these critical conversations and drive meaningful change.
